Backstory

The Junior Medical Detective series was started by two doctors who both do a great deal of writing to teach other doctors about medicine. However, once they each had kids, they realized that what they really wanted to do was write books that their children - and their children's friends - would want to read. And so the series was born!

Given their backgrounds, the authors care just as much about teaching kids and their parents about medicine as they do about entertaining kids with fun stories. This website is designed to bring the stories to life and also give parents and their kids some fun medically-themed activities to do together!

  

News & Press

Following the success of Book 1 in the Jr. Medical Detective series ("My Tummy Hurts"), the authors released two additional books -- Book 2 ("What's Bugging Carter?") in 2016 and Book 3 ("Mila Has A Headache") in 2017. Stay tuned for previews and more news about other sequels!

This book was a perfect purchase for my kids - one really likes pretending to be a doctor, probably after seeing doctors on TV.

Great childrens' books with a cute storyline and pictures to go along.

My kids really enjoy this book. It's got amazing, vivid artwork and is the text is appropriate for my elementary school kids to read by themselves.

My Tummy Hurts is a lovely children's' book. I see it helping kids spot the symptoms of appendicitis, as well as helping them overcome a fear of doctors or surgery.

I thought his appendix was wrong and I was right! I like this book because it teaches about medical stuff and I want to be a doctor when I grow up.

Great book! My nieces and nephew all love it. They request it almost every night before bed time according to my sister.

An easy to follow but exciting story of a young girl who solves a medical mystery, even when the adults around her can't!

My daughter requests the tummy book every night since we got it :) That is probably the best review I can give for it!
